Mission

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

The candidate must be self-started, know how to work independently, receive minimal guidance, solve complex problems, and take a new perspective using existing solutions. You may have to interact with Country, Regional, Global teams, and external stakeholders (like Customs, Liner, Forwarder, and Consultants) to drive customs & trade compliance and execute Imports/Exports transactions in Malaysia. 

Job Responsibilities:

I am responsible for the speed and quality of customs clearance of import/export consignments.

To serve as the strategic and operational anchor for global trade, ensuring 100% regulatory compliance while optimizing customs flows. You will lead the end-to-end customs lifecycle—from technical HS classification and FTA optimization to real-time dispute resolution and digital process transformation.

1. End-to-End Customs Operations
  • Pre-to-Post Declarative: Oversee the full lifecycle of declarations; audit document quality, file accurate submissions, resolve blockages with authorities (MITI, Free Zone, etc.), and maintain exhaustive legal archives.

  • Risk & Governance: Conduct regular risk analyses and self-assessment audits. Maintain robust SOPs and ensure timely submission of legal, regulatory, and inventory reports.

2. Technical Expertise & Duty Optimization
  • Classification: Manage accurate HS code assignment, rules of origin, and duty rate determination within internal databases (CAT).

  • FTA Strategy: Drive cost savings by maximizing Free Trade Agreements to be applied for shipments coming to Malaysia. 

3. Strategic Leadership & Stakeholder Management
  • Brokerage & KPIs: Manage customs brokers via structured KPIs and Monthly Quality Management Reviews (QMR). Lead RFQ processes to ensure top-tier service provider performance.

  • Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for customs authorities and internal cross-functional teams.

  • Network & Training: Establish a global knowledge-sharing network and conduct compliance training to elevate internal expertise.

4. Digital Transformation & Projects
  • Innovation: Collaborate with IT to enhance digital tools for transport and customs efficiency.

  • Project Management: Launch task forces to resolve complex compliance challenges and assist partners with AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) applications.

Profile:
  • Experience: Proven track record in customs brokerage, trade compliance, or logistics management.

  • Expertise: Deep knowledge of regional regulations (MITI, Free Zones) and e-commerce import/export flows.

  • Systems: Proficiency in customs software and digital transformation projects.

  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, ability to "animate" external partners, and high-stakes negotiation skills.
