Mission
Role Purpose
As an Indirect Buyer, you will be responsible for developing and executing local purchasing strategies that align with global objectives. You will drive cost optimization (TCO), lead complex negotiations, and foster sustainable supplier relationships while ensuring compliance with ESG standards and group policies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
Define & Execute Strategy: Develop and deploy local purchasing strategies for assigned categories.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with internal business leaders to challenge specifications, identify needs, and maximize synergies across the organization.
Financial Impact: Drive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis and propose "estimated savings" to Finance/CFOs to influence budget construction.
Sustainable Procurement: Systematically integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria into all RFIs, RFPs, and supplier assessments.
Full Lifecycle Sourcing: Lead the entire sourcing process from market analysis and tendering to negotiation and final contract execution, ensuring projects meet budget and deadlines.
2. Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) & Innovation
Market Intelligence: Conduct continuous market research to identify trends, risks, and innovation opportunities at local and regional levels.
Panel Optimization: Manage and optimize the supplier base to reduce complexity while securing the supply chain.
Performance & Compliance: Conduct formal supplier evaluations and strategic reviews to monitor performance, service levels, and adherence to the Code of Conduct.
Risk Mitigation: Map critical suppliers and develop robust contingency plans to safeguard business continuity.
Innovation Scouting: Partner with suppliers to identify and pilot innovative solutions that add value to the business.
3. Performance Monitoring & Compliance
Savings Governance: Set up robust tracking mechanisms to monitor "negotiated" vs. "realized" savings, reporting regularly to Finance and Management.
Data Integrity: Ensure all contracts and tender data are accurately maintained in the Group’s digital procurement tools for full traceability.
Policy Advocacy: Act as an ambassador for the Purchasing Policy, encouraging the use of framework contracts and digital tools among end-users.
Continuous Improvement: Define and execute progress plans based on KPI outcomes to elevate the maturity of the local purchasing function.
Profile
Requirements
Experience: 3–5 years in Indirect Procurement, ideally in Retail or FMCG.
Education: Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or or related field.
Skills: Strong negotiation, TCO analysis, and experience with ERP/E-Sourcing tools.
Languages: Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Mindset: A proactive "problem-solver" who can influence stakeholders and manage data with high accuracy.
