Mission

As Safety Manager, you will be responsible for ensures the daily safety of people and security of assets within the warehouse. Drives a proactive safety culture, maintains operational excellence, and fosters a compliant and high-performing team.

Safety and Security Management:

  • Policy & Compliance: Define and enforce the warehouse's safety and health policy in compliance with company frameworks and local regulations.
  • Risk Management: Ensure the warehouse has an up-to-date annual Risk Assessment and a current Preventive Plan that is accessible and actionable for the team and suppliers.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop, maintain, and ensure clear communication of the emergency evacuation plan, adhering to local regulations. Organize and debrief a minimum of four annual warehouse evacuation exercises, updating procedures as needed.
  • Performance Monitoring: Set up clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety and health, conduct regular follow-ups, debrief with the team and warehouse, and ensure compliance with Basic Safety Unit (BSU) goals.
  • Audits & Diagnostics: Coordinate internal and external safety and health diagnostics and audits, overseeing the execution and monitoring of action plans. Conduct annual fire and electrical audits.
  • Incident Management: Analyze annual incident statistics and adjust existing procedures accordingly. Coordinate the application of crisis scenarios (DRP).
  • Reporting: Contribute to national and united safety and health reporting.
  • Supplier Compliance: Ensure all suppliers comply with company standards, including human rights policies, and that all contractual agreements adhere to united standards.
  • Financial & Anti-Corruption: Communicate with and obtain validations from the CFO for all warehouse-related economic matters. Ensure strict adherence to anti-corruption policies.
  • Documentation & Committees: Maintain up-to-date mandatory safety documentation. Organize a minimum of two Safety and Health Committee meetings annually.
  • SOP Development: Develop and/or improve Safety and Security Related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure their effective implementation.
  • Internal Rules: Ensure full compliance with the company’s internal Safety Rules and Guidelines.

Facility and Perception Management:

  • Cleanliness & Order: Ensure the warehouse consistently maintains a "Clean, Tidy, and Safe" environment.
  • Maintenance Program: Establish and oversee the implementation of the warehouse's maintenance program, including self-maintenance, preventive, corrective, and inspection services.
  • Facility Coordination: Coordinate with the Facility Management (FM) team to monitor and implement service contracts.
  • Vendor Management: Source quotations and liaise with suppliers, vendors, and contractors for maintenance and improvement works.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop continuous improvement projects aligned with company strategy, review preventive maintenance programs, and recommend improvements. Drive cost reduction through efficiency efforts.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency calls for troubleshooting and ensure fast resolution of required rectifications.
  • Image & Maintenance Diagnostic: Periodically measure the image and maintenance diagnostic level of the warehouse.
Leadership and Human Capital Development: 

  • Personal Development: Ensure personal training aligns with responsibilities and maintain a bi-annual personal development plan.
  • Team Development: Foster a culture of continuous learning by guiding the team on training paths and development plans. Build a talent pool for organizational sustainability and establish connections to support team development.
  • Training & Validation: Set up and maintain training processes for duty managers. Validate 100% of duty managers, ensuring they are trained, have attended first aid and fire brigade training, and are validated to manage the warehouse.
  • Mentorship & Succession: Conduct regular individual meetings with teammates. Prepare an autonomous team and ensure succession planning for your replacement.
  • Communication: Timely communicate safety information to teammates and the warehouse.

Profile

  • Preferably Bachelor’s degree or Diploma Safety, Health and Environmental studies, other degrees will be considered and analysed case by case. 

  • At least 5 years experiences in the Safety, Health & Environmental field.

  • Well versed in all the theories, principles, and practices of facilities maintenance management.

  • Excellent problem solving / judgment skills and high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.

  • Possess a “GreenBook”, "Yellowbook" or “Safety Officer 22 days Training”.

  • Ability to define problems, collects data, and analyses to draw actionable conclusions.

  • Knowledge of office software (spread sheet and word processing) 

  • Analytical skills and data analysis with statistical methods.

  • Innovative and work independently to drive technical projects.

  • Strong communication and written skill in English.
